Welcome to my website--take a look around.
I'm an Indie (not affiliated with a publishing house) science fiction and fantasy author whose works can be found on Amazon.com in both paperback and Kindle formats. This site serves as sort of an online Grand Central Station for my internet presences, such as my blog, Twitter and Facebook accounts, as well as a source of information about me and my writing.
I've always been an avid reader of SF/F, as well as other genres. As a writer, however, I try to bring a fresher spin to this stuff. If you're like me--tired of the same old stale tropes: wizards exchanging fireballs and princesses held captive by dragons and such--check out my work. I like to weave a contemporary flavor into my stories, al la Stephen Donaldson's Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever or Roger Zelazny's Amber series, letting fantasy and magical elements spice the soup, but not serve as a dominant ingredient. Real world intersects the fantastic, so to speak.
Oh yeah. I blog. And when I blog, I'm often up on a soapbox, throwing stones at the Big Six publishing houses (not as well as J.A. Konrath. Wow, that guy has an arm) for their idiotic gatekeeper practices and their poor treatment of authors (here's a good example of one of my rants), or advising other Indie authors on the state of the writing and publishing business. Sometimes, when the voices aren't home, I just post updates on works-in-progress (WIP), or what I did on my summer vacation.
As an independent author I have total control over my own work. I don't incur the 18-to-24 month delay between delivering a completed manuscript and publication. I control my own cover art, jacket blurbs, formatting, and editing. I can commission these services on my own and switch providers if I don't like their work. I can update works on the fly if my readers find a mistake. I can schedule giveaways and promotions. I'm not coupled to a random editor from a distant publishing house; I can work closely with my own personally-chosen professional editor (Rebecca T Dickson), to not only copy and content edit my work, but to preserve the spirit, voice and continuity of those works with someone who understands my intent and style. The end result is the best book possible delivered to the reader in the fastest feasible time frame.
The best thing you can do for me as a reader (other than buy my work) is give me feedback. Leave honest reviews on Amazon or Goodreads, and help me craft a better story the next time I sit down at a keyboard. Drop me an email. Or you can reach out to me on my Contact Page.
I hope you enjoy reading my stuff. I enjoy writing it.
